Typo In Proposition 8 Defines Marriage As Between 'One Man And One Wolfman'

SACRAMENTO, CA—Activists on both sides of the gay marriage debate were shocked this November, when a typographical error in California's Proposition 8 changed the state constitution to restrict marriage to a union between "one man and one wolfman," instantly nullifying every marriage except those comprised of an adult male and his lycanthrope partner. "The people of California made their voices heard today, and reaffirmed our age-old belief that the only union sanctioned in God's eyes is the union between a man and another man possessed by an ungodly lupine curse," state Sen. Tim McClintock said at a hastily organized rally celebrating passage of the new law. But opponents, including Bakersfield resident Patricia Millard—who is now legally banned from marrying her boyfriend, a human, non-wolfman male—claim it infringes on their civil liberties. "I love James just as much as a wolfman loves his husband," Millard said. "We deserve the same rights as any horrifying mythical abomination." On the heels of the historic typo, voters in Utah passed a similar referendum a week later, defining marriage as between one man and 23 wolfmen.

Still warm...

I went with a co-worker to deliver Christmas baskets in Gold Beach to businesses that we work with...assisted living facilites, pharmacy, hospice, home health, doctors, the hospital...

We grabbed lunch from Subway, and then drove to an ocean overlook to eat. We sat a a picnic table in the sun listening to the surf, watching the waves crash into the rocks below, looking for miles out onto the Pacific...

I must say-very different than any Christmas season I have experienced before. We were having so much fun eating lunch we considered just launching the baskets into the ocean and saying we delivered them. I had visions of seagulls with garland hanging out of their beaks...

We did actually make it to Gold Beach-and we passed my dad coming out of the Subway there. It is funny that I live so close to them now, but only see them about as often as I did before I moved here...still, it's nice to know I can see them. Maybe I should bring them a basket.

December delirium

So...we had a very nice Thanksgiving surrounded by friends. We invited a few folks that didn't have any family around here-since Coley and I would have had our annual turkey and trimmings anyway. We just ended up buying a 22 lb monstrosity instead of the little Cornish game hens we might have normally had.
Anyway-we have managed to meet some pretty cool people around here. Lots of loggers, fishermen and mill workers... It was kind of fun to have dinner with JD, the ex-biker, and his roommate "Painter Dan" (not to be confused with "fisher Dan")-our friend Homey G Dawg, who just broke up with her girlfriend, our co-worker Love, Ron (who brought over a huge bag of Morrell's he had picked after a morning in the woods), and our buddy Ben-an ex ranch hand who had spent considerable time up near Colville working...lotsa big guys...
We talked, laughed, watched football and nibbled on a huge array of cheeses, meats, crackers, chips, veggies, etc. Coley made a beautiful meal (I was mostly chased out of the kitchen)...and they packed it away despite the daylong snack-fest. I had a great time hearing stories about drunk horses, goats on mushrooms, riding a roped moose, stepping on a wild hog's head and getting treed by it, kitties with tiny heads, a horse smooshing a badger, raccoons wearing denim...I laughed til the tears rolled...I took a bunch of pics, but haven't made it to get them on disc yet. I'll put up a few when I get them...
I've been pretty amazed by the weather here. It has been clear and gorgeous, with temps right around the upper 60's or lower 70's. That will seem kinda strange at Christmas time, but hey-I won't complain! Little C will be here Christmas week, and I am looking forward to that-although not to the 10 hour round-trip drive to get and return her on two consecutive weekends...
Sounds like we are going to go out and cut our own little tree...probably wearing t-shirts...
Merry Christmas! Pass the tanning oil!
