December delirium

So...we had a very nice Thanksgiving surrounded by friends. We invited a few folks that didn't have any family around here-since Coley and I would have had our annual turkey and trimmings anyway. We just ended up buying a 22 lb monstrosity instead of the little Cornish game hens we might have normally had.
Anyway-we have managed to meet some pretty cool people around here. Lots of loggers, fishermen and mill workers... It was kind of fun to have dinner with JD, the ex-biker, and his roommate "Painter Dan" (not to be confused with "fisher Dan")-our friend Homey G Dawg, who just broke up with her girlfriend, our co-worker Love, Ron (who brought over a huge bag of Morrell's he had picked after a morning in the woods), and our buddy Ben-an ex ranch hand who had spent considerable time up near Colville working...lotsa big guys...
We talked, laughed, watched football and nibbled on a huge array of cheeses, meats, crackers, chips, veggies, etc. Coley made a beautiful meal (I was mostly chased out of the kitchen)...and they packed it away despite the daylong snack-fest. I had a great time hearing stories about drunk horses, goats on mushrooms, riding a roped moose, stepping on a wild hog's head and getting treed by it, kitties with tiny heads, a horse smooshing a badger, raccoons wearing denim...I laughed til the tears rolled...I took a bunch of pics, but haven't made it to get them on disc yet. I'll put up a few when I get them...
I've been pretty amazed by the weather here. It has been clear and gorgeous, with temps right around the upper 60's or lower 70's. That will seem kinda strange at Christmas time, but hey-I won't complain! Little C will be here Christmas week, and I am looking forward to that-although not to the 10 hour round-trip drive to get and return her on two consecutive weekends...
Sounds like we are going to go out and cut our own little tree...probably wearing t-shirts...
Merry Christmas! Pass the tanning oil!
